Laurie C. Sutton
After receiving her Classics degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Laurie moved to Los Angeles seeking a career in the entertainment industry. She landed a day job at Shutters on the Beach Hotel in Santa Monica and became instantly intrigued with hospitality in the luxury market. This began her 12-year career in Leading Hotels of the World properties honing her craft of fine-dining, wine service, and mixology. It was during this time she discovered her passion for wine and spirits after attending a wine training lecture from a Master Sommelier. She immediately began the pursuit for further wine knowledge traveling and attending classes.
Laurie has worked as a wine director and sommelier, creating a wine list which won the Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence” for a leading hotel property at the Malibu Beach Inn. She is currently an Advanced-Level Sommelier in the Court of Master Sommeliers. She judges wine-tasting competitions and holds a diploma with the London-based Wine and Spirits Education Trust.
Laurie’s passion and appreciation for fine wine, spirits, and hospitality connected her with 538. She enthusiastically joins the talented team in this beautiful location surrounded by world-class wines and spirits on the ground floor of the California Club. She views wine as intriguing, fun, and enjoys unravelling the seemingly mystery of wine.
